The law sez they can't be refilled after a certain date, but can be 
used if propane remains in them. You could get them refilled on the 
last day and still use them. I have twin 40lb. tanks and they last 
over a year. So I won't have to worry untill a year later. When one 
goes dry, I can revalve and refill and at a later date do the same 
with the last one.  So sez my local supplier. Arnie
