[A/S] Surface rust on the frame

I've read where rust is a concern on the frame. My unit has rust, but 
it is only on the surface. Before I bought it, I crawled the entire 
underside with an awl and scraped the frame down. Nothing much more 
than the rust you might find on the frame of a car. The frame seemed 
solid. No pockets or holes.

Do most people have their frame sandblasted, then coated for 
protection? I have a sandblasting unit for my compressor, and was 
thinking of doing it myself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
