Dick,
 FWIW: Trailer brake magnets pull 3 amps/each at full power. Just for
the helluvit, I connected a spare to a battery and stuck it to a piece
of iron for 10+ minutes. It got warm, but not overly hot. Of course, it
will run your trailer battery down in due time and will probably get
hotter if left on longer, but you don't need to get too excited for a
few minutes.
