My wife and I have Pergo throughout our whole 1400 sq ft 
house.  It is a great material and very easy to keep 
up.  We have two large dogs and two cats.  They just 
can't seem to damage it with their playing or nails.  I 
did scratch it once by moving the couch.  Unknown by me, 
it had a little metal cap on the foot of it.  

One word of caution...  Do not let it get and stay wet.  
You are not to use anything other than a damp mop to 
clean it.  If water is left standing, it will soak into 
the joints and swell the material underneath.  I speak 
from experience.  The dog's water dish is a prime area 
for this type of problem.  It doesn't take but an hour 
or so to begin swelling the joint.
