Hi -

We have the spare on our '66 Overlander mounted vertically behind the LP
tanks.  It has a vinyl cover over the spare and the whole thing is enclosed
in an aluminum "ring" which is hinged on one side for easy access.  I find
it to be very unobtrusive, yet convenient to get at.  You can check out

It has minimal impact on turning radius and tongue weight since it is tight
up against the front of the trailer.
