[A/S] AIRSTREAM QUALITY

There is a difference of opinion (go figure) on this, but some are
unhappy with the 70's models built by Beatrice Foods when they took over
Airstream.  The rear bath in these had a first time addition of a
holding tank that was too heavy for the frame and sometimes caused a
sag.  They also tried new materials with a heavy emphasis on lightweight
plastics that didn't always hold up.  The tambour doors with plastic
laminates for example, and the vista view dual pane windows which cloud
up inside and flake the coating.  I have rally friends who have great
70's trailers in wonderful shape that they are happy with, but there is
somewhat of a consensus that these problems and general design make them
less popular.
