Re: [A/S] removal of black water tank shroud

Joy, A RV repair shop that has my '68 Tradewind at the moment says that I
have corrosion on the black water tank pan and some rust on the angle iron
supports which need to be replaced. I don't have access to the trailer
currently so I can't see or describe the situation other than what I've
been told by phone. Can this be seen from the rear compartment door? They
were also going to replace the dump valve ($36.00) and check for frame
rust. Their repair estimate is for 14 hours labor ($812.00) and $165.00
for the pan to fix it, not including any frame repairs. Seems like a lot
to me. I'm a hobby machinist, handy with tools, owned two previous
Airstreams and a have lot of time. If you repaired your trailer and the
problem is similar, I think I could probably repair mine. Having done it,
would you do it again or have it done professionally?

Thanks,

Jim Greene
