Re: [A/S] removal of black water tank shroud
Melanie,
Yes, in my admittedly limited experience I have only seen tanks supported by
angle iron cross members under the front and rear of the holding tank cover.
It is entirely possible that an earlier (or later) A/S attached the tank
cover directly to the floor but it doesn't sound like a good plan. Think of
the weight of a holding tank full of waste suspended by a few bolts through
a plywood floor. The floor would probably support the full tank when all
was new but as the plywood aged it would seem to a fairly fragile
attachment. In any case, when you begin putting it all back together since
you probably have a little floor rot and attaching the full weight of the
holding tank and tank cover to the plywood floor sounds pretty shaky, I
suggest removing the tank cover by whatever means are available to you and
won't cause any further damage then reinstalling the tank and tank cover
using angle iron braces.
I didn't see the photo attachments. Send them direct if you would like and
I will offer my low cost and not very useful opinion.
