Re: [A/S] Re: Tekonsha Brake Controllers/Hayes Wheels Controllers
One important item needs to be brought up concerning Tekonsha brake
controllers. In conversations with their representatives at numerous RV
supplier shows, their position on activating the trailer brake lights when
manual braking causes me great concern. Their engineers position is that
the potential for interference with the ABS brake circuit is greater than
activating trailer brake lights. So none of their controllers activate
trailer brake lights when the controller is activated manually. This is
contrary to Hayes Wheels engineers who design their controllers to activate
the trailer brake lights. I personally prefer that the folks behind me know
when I apply my brakes, no matter how. For that reason I won't sell
Tekonsha products unless specifically requested to. My controller of choice
has been the Micro Controller HD. And while it's setup is a bit different
from most controllers, I have found it to be an effective controllers while
towing a wide range of sizes. Set it once for the size and I'm good to go.
