Hunter, the sprayed water is liquid, and cools the coils (unless you 
use boiling water).  The water in the air is a gas, and must be 
cooled along with the air, then condensed to a liquid form, which 
requires extra work from the AC.  It's a question of whether you're 
cooling the water or the water is cooling you.
