[A/S] Re: WBCCI and today's Airstreamer

Well, after reading Jim's words, I'm amazed at the difference
between WBCCI units -- my experience with WBCCI has been quite
different than his.

I do agree with Jim that WBCCI should emphasize rallies -- the
caravans are tough to fit into a busy calendar.

I just joined the Washington unit, and they are all friendly
folks, and really make new members welcome. They are also very
willing to help with technical advice, which is great.

One thing the Washington unit just started doing is to hold monthly
dinners for members, plus the usual twice weekly card games, and
Saturday AM coffee & donut sessions. The monthly dinner for January
cost $1.00 per person(!) They served chili dogs, potato salad, and
jello. Almost 100 folks turned out for the dinner.

This unit was started in 1959 by diverse folks, including machinists,
carpenters, engineers, public employees -- I wonder if that is what
has made the difference? I sense no "snobbishness" here at all.

Warm Regards,
     -Joel.
