Re: [A/S] Deadbolt Lock Installation

Mike,

Thanks for your reply and the detailed information. I will review your
photo posting next.

Another question:

My '66 Safari has a flimsy little non-locking deadbolt with a stamped steel
hollow tube for a bolt. It has a knob on the inside and outside, no lock
cylinder at all. It is adequate for keeping the door secure during travel
but no security while parked overnight in isolated spots or for securing a
parked and vacant trailer. The challenge is that it is mounted in the door
not the frame. I would like to replace it with a key locked dead bolt
mounted in the existing hole for cosmetic reasons.

Is one of the Lowe's dead bolt lock assemblies suitable for a door-mounted
application? I don't know the spacing from the door's edge but it is
identical to the door handle/lock assembly.

Thanks,
Harvey
