[A/S] VAC Caravan to Belize???????
On the 1st of nov 11VAC trailers including my wife and I left McAllen Texas
for a month long caravan to Belize and return The 1st international VAC
caravan. 62 miles into the manual transmission in my Dodge,Cummings.broke it
was impossible to get it repaired so that we could continue. Neediess to say
we were heart broken we had planned and repaired for this trip for a very
long time.
The rest of the convoy continued on and my friend in Belize where we were to
spend most of our time camping e mailed me to let me know that everyone
arrived safely. I was very happy for them.
They arrived back in Texas on the 1st of Dec. I had hoped to receive an e
mail,a phone call or a letter from some of them to tell me about the
trip, good, bad, or indifferent. I do not have the words to express my
disappointment that I have not received a word from anybody not one word. In
my 73years I have had many disappointments this ranks among my greatest
I now know the meaning of (out of sight out of mind.) I thought there was
some camaraderie developing in the several days we were in the staging
area.........
I was not overly suprised that I heard nothing from the tour director as he
had receive his money for our unit and was of no help getting us out of
Mexico we were on our own. he did help us into a village where a mechanic
looked at it. the tour company's purpose is to make a profit and when we
dropped out he had one less unit to baby sit
If I ever get up enough nerve to try to trail it again I will never join
another caravan as I know that if I experience another breakdown I will be
abandoned. I am revulating the merit of belonging to theVAC.and theWBCCI.
In spite of every thing I truly hope the other people on the caravan had t
wonderful time
