I have used both sway control styles and strongly prefer the Reese dual cam
sway control.  I used the old friction sleeve device for years with stick
build trailers and it was only after I purchased an Airstream that I learned
of the dual cam device through a fellow Airstreamer.  Now the friction
sleeve is in my tool shed where it has been resting for 5 or 6 years.

The friction sleeve device performs it's function but it is an additional
device to connect/disconnect and, when backed or turning sharply, it is
possible to bind and bend the friction sleeve sway control whereas the dual
cam is simply part of the hitch torsion bars and can handle sharp backing
maneuvers without removing the sway control.
