Re: [A/S] insurance coverage / appraisal
I'm in the insurance industry
Might I suggest that you ask the agent who wants the appraisal who he
uses. The appraiser chosen should give at least three figures from
Airstream dealers. He also should get figures from the web (RV Trader)
has some Airstreams on its site. He could also research RV Trader
magazines etc to get a range of figures. He should give comments on why
your particular trailer is worse than or better than the averages he
gets from the figures above. That is how a claims adjuster will
determine what you get paid and it is a good way to come pretty close to
what you would get in settlement of your total loss <eeeeaarghth!!>
The other thing to be certain about is how much coverage you have a
partial loss due to some perils. Hunter had hail damage to her trailer
and only part of it was covered due to some exclusions that limited the
amount paid due to certain perils to a percentage of actual cash value
if I recall correctly. Bears some investigation.
