 Trailer Life Magazine did a comparison between a Ford gasser and a PSD a
while back and concluded that it would require right at 100,000 miles for
the better Diesel mileage to offset the higher initial cost. Maintenance
costs for both were factored in.

What I don't know is if they figured the residual value; if you trade
vehicles, you're going to get a bit more for that Diesel than you will for
your old gasser, so you recoup some of that initial cost.
