Polly, you have the lever correct except the back of the lever is made of the load equalizing hitch spring bars. Pulling those bars up towards the trailer tongue raises the back of the tow vehicle and the opposite down force on the trailer tongue pushes the front of the tow vehicle down. Gerald J.
