     Jane and I have also been concerned that the membership is
aging, 
with the implied stagnation of membership.  We have also been 
encouraged by both the presence of younger members in VAC and by the 
recent trends of earlier retirement and the possible incorporation of 
younger members from that avenue.
     I don't see what is to be gained by *assuming* attitudes on the 
part of older members of the club, who were once its younger 
members...isn't it everyone's aim to grow older?  In my experience, 
some people do ossify in their outlook as they age, but many more do 
not.  They all deserve a respectful attitude and a collegial approach.
