 It definitely sounds like you have a blockage in that furnace, but it could
be in the incoming air supply as well as the exhaust. I certainly wouldn't
operate it until I figured it out.

Although I've never had a furnace out, it should be fairly straightforward.
Disconnect the ducts, gas line, and power, remove the securing screws, and
it should be close to sliding out. You MIGHT be able to do some good by
removing the little outside grill and looking in with a flashlight. Like
other holes, I'd imagine that "critters" would find those ports to be a nice
home. I've seen screens for them, so someone somewhere must have had a
problem. Surprisingly, I've never seen advice to block those holes during
the off-season.
