[A/S] Leveling

At one time in my life I was a framing carpenter and possibly as a 
result I have always had an instinct for being abe to tell if floors 
are level, walls are plumb and angles are 90 degrees. This last 
weekend as I was setting up the Excella at our campsite, instead of 
relying on my eyeball and the little bubble levels that the previous 
owner had installed on the frame I used a 24" level and applied it to 
a number of different horizontal and vertical surfaces on the
exterior and interior of the trailer. There were discrepancies. The 
floor was different than the counter top which was different from the
horizontal band on the exterior. Finally I just decided I would 
average. In retrospect it couldn't hurt to use the refrigerator as
the test surface.

The question for you veterans is what is the best method of 
determining level so that I can apply some good bubble levels to the 
exterior? Additionaly, I assume the large expensive leveling gauges 
work no better than the small cheap ones as long as they are
installed properly.
