Hi Glen,
    The "Original" is a slide type bolt, the one in my trailer is flat on
the bottom and rounded on the back, with round handle. I have seen similar
latches in hardware stores, look for "Stanley " hardware they come in a
blister pack. Either in chrome or brass. You may have enlarged mounting
holes under the tape, I know I did on mine. I made a patch slightly larger
than the area, pop riveted it in place and re-installed the latch. I found
matching vinyl coated Aluminum under the front couch, scored it with a
utility knife, bent it a couple of times and voila! matching patch.
