Re: [A/S] Cummins, Credenza & Brake Controller

Al,
I have had one hydraulic, 3 different types of the pendulum controlled units,
and one Jordan "Optima 2020" unit that attaches the small wire cable to the
arm of the brake peddle. The Jordan unit is the smoothest and most like not
even having a trailer attached I have ever used. I just got back last week
from my first 3000 mile trip with the Jordan unit, and I am now sold on that
unit. We took our neighbors on the trip and John did some of the driving. It
was the first time he had ever towed a trailer, and his comment was " why does
people make such a big deal out of pulling a trailer". He said it was no
different than driving his GMC Yukon.
My rig is a 1998 34' Limited Front Kitchen towed behind a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500
Extended cab with the short bed, rated to tow 11,200 lbs. The two are
connected together with a Hinsley Arrow, and the braking is controlled by the
Optima 2020. I first had all the same rig except for the brake controller,
that was a "Draw Tight" pendulum unit that was supposed to be the best thing
sense canned beer. It worked, but I had to keep making adjustments for highway
vs city driving conditions and it was never smooth. Based on input from this
list, I ordered an Optima directly from them and gave the guy that installed
the Draw Tight unit his unit back if he would swop the two units for me. It
took me 3 stops in the local mall parking lot to fine tune the unit, and have
not touched it sense.
You now have my soap box speech for the month, so the list can rest at ease.
