Re: [A/S] 'Q on solar charging battery operated drill.

Terry:

Hello from the next state north of you ! The above sentence, and the fact
I know that you have solar panels (but I can't remember whether any are on
your '77) prompts this question: can you recharge your 14.4 volt drill from
the solar panels? I was thinking of getting a rechargeable battery operated
portable drill, but was thinking of buying one closer to 12 volts, just so
the solar panel (which I will buy someday) can pump enough amps into the
drill's batteries. I haven't looked into it yet, but simply assumed
(without knowing whether) 14.4 volts was a tad high for recharging from a
solar panel wired for a 12 volt system.

I understand peak voltage will exceed 12.0 volts during recharging, but
is the gap between 14.4 and a higher peak voltage too small for effective
(efficient?) recharging? Any experience with this? If none, what are your
thoughts?

Best regards as always,
