Re: [A/S] Mexico: what you need

Bob and Greg and all,
What strategy to use in dinning in strange lands, depends on your
condition. As you get older, your ability to fight off bugs lessens.
If you aren't getting enough rest, exercise, vitamins, balanced meals,
etc. you are more likely to succumb to bacterial and viral infections.
If you drink more than a couple of glasses of wine or beer a day or
smoke it can reduce immune response. Those with other medical problems
may fall victim to local microbes more easily, too. Weigh the state of
your health and condition before going whole hog.
If you are going to have an extended stay, building antibodies to
these pesky bugs is probably a good idea.
Nothing ruins a short stay though like the local "trots", so bottled
water and well cooked food, no ice and brushing teeth with bottled water
are good precautions for that one week or three day holiday.
I guess I'm more like Bob Kiger; I've been all over the world and
love to eat the local food in local places. Why go to some great place
where everything is new and different and stay at the local Holiday Inn
and eat American standard food? Be sensible and weigh the time of stay,
health and condition, sense of adventure - all together when figuring
out how much of the local color to ingest.
