Re: [A/S] waste holding tank maintenance

In my 73 ambassador Intl, the black tank is right under the toilet. At
the exit, there is a knife valve and below the knife valve are two
outlets for gray water, one from the kitchen sink, the other from the
center bath. In 1973, most places would let you just let the grey water
run onto the ground. If you are hooked up to a sewer, the gray water
just goes on in, but you are supposed to let the balck water tank fill
up and then empty in a whoosh so the solids get washed out.

The standard (non sewer hook up )fix for this is a blue tank on wheels
that you hook up to the outlet. let the gray water go into it and empty
as needed. Then dump the black water into the dumping station directly.
Gray water is not nasty, black water is way nasty.

Another friend suggested a 5 gal pail with a nail hole in the bottom for
the gray water, not legal everywhere but clever. You could probably do
the same to a blue tank..I don't know what they might do if they catch
you however.

Its kind of like the other end of using power and water frugally,
although it isn't as much fun to brag about.

Daisy -still caulking...
