The ball size is 2 5/16".
The dry weight of that coach is 4,810 lbs with 490 lbs at the hitch. Dry
weight is no liquids, no awnings, no air conditioner, no nothing
"extras". This is well over the recommended tow rating for your Explorer.

All current brake controllers come with installation instructions.
