Re: [A/S] steel barn thoughts.
Someone on the easten slope in Co was talking about this during the summer,
don't remember who it was. He had the idea of putting in a utility core of
kitchen and ? bath and there was a fireplace in his plan , I think. I went
to Cleary for quote just to get an idea, $14,000 for the steel , erected on
slab that was existing. No insulation, but did include doors and windows in
the loft space. My idea was to have three trailers, one for main living space
that probably would not move out of the barn, my Globetrotter as guest room
and travel trailer and a third, maybe SOB gutted for some secure storage,
workshop for tools, so I would not have to lock up barn in good weather. The
water and electric and sewer would be inside so they would be somewhat
protected in cold weather. I do plan to be where there is cold weather as I
like xc skiing and prefer cold to hot weather.
Since I want to travel more, but not really full time, this seems a practical
way to do it and if I want to change my living quarters, pulling out the old
trailer and putting in another is easier and cheaper than a new house - just
plug in a new module.
