We always had a summer home on Long Island and it about ruined cars being on the ocean.

"JW here ! I would like to say one thing about Aluminum. Stay away from Airstreams that have spent more than 2 years on the coast by water( salt ). After several Florida polish jobs (6) I have seen Big time Corrision on every one of them. I have seen front Tung A Frame rusted into. I have seen rear bumpers coming off. I see rust on Axles. I have seen skins on the Belly coming off . Do not ever spend BIG Green Stamps on The Salt fogged Corrosion Airstreams. How can you tell ? Look at the top ( always take a ladder) , look at the very top and on the rear crown half way down. If it has the clear coat you can see the White flat haze of the coating drying out and getting ready to come off. If you see a bright area around the haze the famous coating is gone. Now look for Dark dots This can be tuff ! Why ? the oxides and oxidation turns dark Gray away from salt water. Around salt water with Heat the oxidations turn Whitish . The oxidations put out the protective cover over the!
 aluminum . As time progresses all type of airborne junk starts to rain down on it, with the moisture and the sun drying it into core oxidation."
