Two batteries in place of the furnace? Sure, why not? If I were you, before I started, I'd do my
homework on having a catalytic heater adjacent to two batteries. Although I think I did a super job
of venting the two batteries in our Safari (under the side couch), there's no flame or combustion
occurring in that vicinity.

As for size of catalytic heater, that's been beat to death several times. We still use the 6100
which suits our style of living (sometimes there's frost on the pumpkin in the morning). If I were
doing it again, I'd install it on a hinge so the heater could be turned to face toward the rear.
Include a catch (there are many ways to do that) so you can restrict the movement to specific
positions (not facing the fridge door, etc.).

To your "probably" comment, yes. While you are at it, check the step area carefully and make any
revisions or improvements you think would help.
