I havn't heard of anyone doing what you propose. I question the need to have
the refrigerator running at all times. I traveled with my trailer for over 2
months this summer. I would normally drive with it off, never did my food
spoil, or the contents of my freezer melt. When the occasional 8+ travel
hour days came up when the outside temps were 90 or higher I would run part
of the day with the refrigerator on propane. Most RV refrigerators run on
both electric and propane, some will even give you a choice of 12V (havn't
heard of many success stories with 12V). Driving with the propane on may not
be as safe as driving with it turned off, and you need to be especially
careful at gas stations, but having done this for over 20 years I have yet
to hear of any unfortunate person to have ignited gasoline fumes with their
pilot light. If your refrigerator is electric only, just get a thermometer
and check it after traveling 6 hours or so, I think that you will find that
it will be OK.
