RE: [A/S] Aluminum

The original Airstream Manual for the 66 Safari, page 14-1
says "Your Airstream has been protected by an acrylic laquer finish at the
factory".

They do also recommend retouch of small areas that have been damaged "with
a spray bomb of clear acrylic lacquer".  It is obvious that we have learned
a lot about clear coating since those early days.

Nobody is downing the idea of a professional clear coat.  I do believe it
is a trifle expensive for those on fixed income whereas buffing is cheap
once you own the machine . . . and good exercise.

I wonder how many of the vintage coaches out there go to a professional
clear coat vs. polishing.
