Re: [A/S] Re: solar installation

If you take a look at your AC distribution panel, the air conditioner is
usually on a circuit by itself, and the breaker is labeled.  There
should be two other breakers for the 120VAC circuits....maybe just one
in smaller units.

When you wire your transfer switch, you simply ignore the air
conditioner circuit and leave it out of the transfer switch loop.  That
way, when the inverter is on line, turning the air on has no effect.  It
won't run at all.

IMO, you should not have any inverter installation without the transfer
switch for safety's sake.

Bob, I think the minimum size inverter you would want would be 1000
watts.  That's if you want to run a _small_ toaster or coffee pot.  Some
toasters use more wattage than a microwave.  If you use a microwave, the
minimum should be 1300 watts.

The general rule of thumb is one solar panel and one battery for each
person.  Everything is parallelled, to give you the storage you need.
If you have the room and the budget, put as many panel/battery pairs up
as you can.  You can never have too much electricity, :-)
