Hunter,
 It's possible to wire an inverter to feed your normal 120VAC
receptacles, but this must be done by someone who knows exactly what
he's doing to prevent problems. A simple way to do it would be to
install an inverter-fed receptacle next to your shore power cord and
simply plug the latter into the former. The only chance of problems
would be if you happened to flip the A/C on while on Inverter Power.
