[A/S] Dodge Cummins Warrantee Info

HI Gang,

I am posting this on the list with permission from the author.

There was a discussion on the rv newsgroup about Diesel engines..... someone 
mentioned that Dodge warrantees the Cummins  diesel engine for 100,000 miles.

A guy replied with this:

"What you say is true if you take it to a Dodge dealer for service, but if
you take it to an authorized Cummins shop they will warrant the  same engine
for 200,000.  I take mine to a truck shop on Military Hwy. in Chesapeake,
VA.  and have received a new warranty from Cummins direct.  It replaces the
one Dodge gave me.  Check it out, it surprised me too.  I think the reason
for this is that Dodge does not have anyone to do routine maintenance on the
engines.  At 12000 miles the valve lash on the engines is to be checked and
tightened if need be, and not one Dodge dealer in the Tidewater area had a
mechanic who could do it, so I checked with Cummins and they recommended
this shop that I am using.  After I did the shop foreman informed me that he
was going to send off to Cummins for a new warranty for my engine since they
were doing the maintenance.  Weird I agree but check it out."

If I had a Dodge, I would check it out. (c:
