Hunter and all:

You stumbled on one of the "Diesel Truths" that light truck owners
come to discover over time. Good diesel mechanics generally work only
for diesel truck shops and make a lot better wages than at automobile
dealerships that only occasionally have a diesel anything in the
store. Though I mostly do all my own maintenance, I never use a
dealership for major diesel maintenance; it aint worth the hassle and
usually the dealerships end up messing up something else in the deal
also. The cost of a true diesel shop is actually cheaper in the long
run, and the expertise of a real diesel mechanic is priceless.  That
is why my old GM 6.2 diesel got to half a million miles before I
traded it in on the 6.5TD Tahoe.
