One of the reasons I prefer the 'vintage' ('40's and early '50's) Airstreams
is the much, much lower towing weight. These were built to be towed by the
family car, which, at the time, were seriously under-powered compared to
later models... a useful heuristic might be: be sure that the tow vehicle
outweighs the (loaded)trailer... 'real' frames (as mentioned previously) are
most desirable. 'Tow packages' with trans coolers, electric trailer brakes,
load-leveler are also a good idea. There is some controversy over the use of
'anti-sway' controllers...
