     Sandy, there was a Rat Portage at one time, but it exists no longer under that name.  It disappeared long ago, when three towns merged, and took a made up name which consisted of a part of the original names of all three towns.  You passed through the old town earlier ........ its name ?  Kenora.  Yes, Kenora is a made up name.  The Rat Portage is embodied in the end of the name, i.e., the ra in Kenora.
     See, I still remember some of what I learned in school in Canada !
