Roger- I'd like to know what you discover in changing over to fluorescents. Keep us posted! I'd like to do this one myself. It really does help cut the battery consumption. Can't tell you anything about it, but... Airstream still makes the replacement covers for the lights! Recently did this to my '72. Order from any Airstream dealer. Airstream Replacement Part # is 201154. "Lens, ceiling light". It fits '72 through '77. Cost a whopping $11.49. Good Luck!
