[a/s] Repairs, warranties et al

Folks -

All done!  The final repairs were completed today.  I will be able to
leave Sunday for Michigan Sunday to shop at Campers World for supplies
and then swing by Hensley on Monday to exchange a part and proceed on
to Canada for the trek west across the Canadian plains.  I will post
any interesting sights and maybe some that are not.  You choose.

At the end up things we OK with the service facility here at Airstream.
 The folks in service fix what production does wrong, and they smile
when they do it.  Some guys in the shop have over 40 years experience. 
Those of you who have the photo of the two AS employees holding up the
aluminum shell, the guy in the back is Alan who worked on my coach and
autographed my book.  Some folks are still here but most have retired.

At the end up I am happy to have gotten most of the problems fixed. 
The floor still slopes while the frame is adjudged as straight by these
folks here.  If it is still a problem in the spring of 2001 I will drag
it back for another shot, and last one, at warranty repairs.  The only
glitch was the couch and that was a major one.  It took two and a half
weeks to get here.  Once it was here these folks put it right in.  So,
it seems that service is motivated and talented.  If they could only
get that over to production.  :o(  Sounds like a huge management flaw
to me.

So, for now that is it.  Thanks to all of you who have encouraged and
supported me in my attempts to get the coach patched.  If you need it
fixed it seems that the factory is best.  Is there a list of reliable
dealers out there somewhere?  I would bring bodywork to the factory,
though.  The rest is a judgement call.
