They make a cover just for this purpose.  We bought ours from Camping World.  
It is made of that silver stuff they use for windshield sunscreens.  Very 
lightweight.  Held up with velcro.  I liked it so much I bought a couple of 
the biggest windshield sunscreens I could find, cut them up and made covers 
for other windows.  I sew bias tape around the edges and use the adhesive 
velcro.  I made one for the front door.  We are in Texas and it is *very* hot 
here - the silver shades help a lot.
