Re: [a/s] Climbing on the roof?

A ladder has a lot more practicality and is safer then scaffolding. You
can place protective padding behind a ladder and insure you place it
along rivet lines so weight is supported where bracing exists. A
further option is to place a piece of 1/4 wood horizontally behind your
ladder with a foot or so extending out each side. This distributes the
weight more evenly. Always watch your toes when you climb up and down
to insure you don't kick a dent in the side. You can move around on the
roof by using thin wood sheet so weight is distributed. But if you make
sure your weight is over the main structural supports, again look for
rivet lines,it can hold you. I generally use a heavy piece of carpet
under me and stay on the braces for short term work and use 3/8 masonite
piece over that when I put my full body weight on the top, whether
kneeling or sitting. Just don't slide off.
