This process is still being used.  I saw an article in a local paper recently 
 --  somewhere on the road  -- where it was being done.  I believe that after 
it is processed it is blended in at about 10 - 20% with regular diesel.  I do 
not think that there is much magic in the processing so I wonder about what 
GM could have bought.  But, I am not an engineer, either.
