Turn the thermostat to as "High" (warmer) as it will go. Select "HI
Cool" on the function dial. The fan should come on. Turn the thermostat
"Down" (colder). At some point, it should click and the compressor
should come on. You might try twisting the thermostat knob from hotter
to cooler and back a couple of times with the function knob selected to
"Off" to see if you can hear it click. Don't be twisting it back and
forth with the function selector "On", only with it "Off"!
If the compressor doesn't come on, you have problems that could range
from the simple (broken wire on the thermostat, thermostat itself) to
the expensive (bad compressor). You'll have to pull the cover and break
out your meter to find out exactly what the problem is.
