When someone buys a pleasure boat it is very wise to have the boat surveyed by a marine surveyor.  
This professional crawls from stem to stern checking everything and gives a report detailing everything 
about the boat.  I would think it a good idea to do likewise with a trailer  unless: 1) you are an expert or, 
2) don't mind gambling the amount of purchase.
