That was my point.  There was a high-frequency component there, close to the
limit of human hearing, which really set my teeth on edge.

But it didn't stop a roe deer from leaping out from behind a tree and landing
square on top of my luggage lid.  I wasn't going over 30 mph at the time.

But I was luckier than the mayor of the next village, who came to one of our
parties and drove home, late at night and well lubricated, in his brand new Opel
Kapitän, at that time one of the bigger and fancier cars in Germany.  On the way
he met a large wild boar ... or rather, collided with it head-on ... the boar
lay dead, without a mark on it, and the Opel lay dead, artistically folded, a
sort of instant origami ... our friend the mayor emerged unscathed, which was
amazing, because the engine was pushed halfway into the rear seat ... boars
having a low center of gravity ...
