Yes, the paint will stick to the vinyl; my trailer has been painted, and the
Airstream repair/restoration facility in Helena, OH paints the interiors of
the trailers. You should first clean the interior thoroughly with a product
such as Spray 9 to ensure that the paint will stick. If you are going to
"dab" the pattern with a sponge, make sure to apply the dabs in a random
pattern to eliminate distinct patches in the paint. 

I recommend that after the paint has dried thoroughly you use a VERY sharp
knife to slit along the seams so that the movement of the coach when
travelling will not crack the paint.
