[a/s] Shopping for an Airstream

OK... This is Pat and Gil.  We are new in this trailer business and confused. 
 We are looking at a 1995 26' Airstream whose Gross Vehicle Weight is 6700 
lbs.   Our tow vehicle will be a '97 Tahoe 2WD 350 whose manual says the 
towing capacity is 5000 lbs.  In looking at our vehicle hitch it says it is 
an AS ? looks like a drawtite though whose maximum trailer weight is 5000 lbs 
but with weight distributed 10000 lbs.  Maximum tongue weight is 500 lbs but 
distributed it is 1000 lbs.  Have no idea if this Tahoe can handle this 
trailer or not.  The trailer hitch is an electric hitch with all the goodies 
like chains, arms to prevent sway, etc.  Looks very heavy duty to us but how 
to know?  Any advice from you pros would be appreciated.    pbran22@aol.com
