Re: [a/s] Rivets Rivets Rivets

Perhaps some discussion should be held on the Olympic neopreme washers
value. I am not aware that Airstream recommends the washered Olympic
Rivet although with more contemporary units I am not sure . My concern
is that the washer is going to deteriorate over time. My '78 and my '56
were not constructed with a washered rivet and I have heard some
discussion from time to time as to the value of this rivet verus the
non-washered rivet. Secondly, as an aside, I was reminded some time
back that the pop rivet does NOT have a hole in the middle. That when
the rivet is installed the shaft is cut/broken off and remains in the
hole and thus no hole exists. Obviously this method is not sealed like
the Olympic rivet which requires you to grind down the rivet shaft and
grinds it into the top of the rivet, which can be polished so you
"hardly" notice it.
