The hint that helped me most, is one a boat dealer told me a long time ago.
He told me to just watch the mirrors, put one hand on the bottom of the 
steering wheel.  Move the bottom of the steering wheel the way you want the 
back of the trailer to go and make small movements with the steering wheel, 
and of course it's easier to do if you are making the backing turn to the 
drivers side.
