I think the reason the manufacturers install wall to wall carpet is
economics. When that flat trailer floor is sitting there on the production
line before the body is installed, the overall costs to install carpet over
the entire floor is less than for any other type of flooring that would
sell widely to their market. Quick, easy, and (relatively) inexpensive.
Most of us want carpet anyway. (Though not in the kitchen!).
